Poli Roukova is an assоciate professor at ‘Economic and Social Geography’ section of the Department of Geography – National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Her research work and interest are focused on: post- socialist socioeconomic restructuring and regional development; globalisation and regional development
– global production networks, commodity/value chains, division of labour; regional analyses of labour market; trans-border economic and social cooperation in SE Europe; Social systems studies, social policies and social infrastructure. She is an author and co- author of more than 80 publications.
Poli Roukova has experience as a national coordinator of international and national scientific research and applied research projects. They were funded by the National Scientific Foundation – USA and by different programs of European Commission: the GD for Research and Innovation (6thFP), the GD REGIO (ESPON, INTERREG), the European Social Fund, the GD Enlargement etc. She has done research analyses under projects funded by the ILO and ILO- SRO.
