Petar Stefanov Peter Stefanov is a geographer in the Physical Geography section of the Department of Geography in the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography. His scientific interests and researchеs are in the field of karstology and karst His scientific interests and research are in the field of karstology and karst geosystems. He develops experimentally an original scientific-methodological platform ProKARSTerra for karst research, based on the geosystem approach. He is the organizer of the Experimental Laboratory of Karstology at the NIGGG-BAS (http://www.prokarstterra.bas.bg) and a network for integrated monitoring of model karst geosystems in Bulgaria. He is the author of more than 90 scientific and 140 popular science publications Leader or participant in more than 60 scientific projects, incl. 3 of UNESCO. Organizer of 5 international scientific and practical forums (2002, 2005, 2012, 2015, 2019), 4 of which are dedicated to karst. He participated in a number of national and international karst exploration expeditions, including in Cuba (1988) and China (1990). He supports 3 international scientific networks, 2 of which are based in the NIGGG-BAS. Editor of the magazine GEOgraphy`21 (2003-2011). Author of physical geography textbook (1995, 2000) and of the specialized educational strategy ProKARSTerra-Edu for innovative training and karst education for / through karst. | |
